Mason Boyce- 8th Grade, Oasis Middle
Mason found some money in the hallway between two classrooms and as tempting as it may have been to pocket the money, he informed his teacher.  Mason then turned the money into the front office, so that whoever lost it could claim it.

Kylie Lusk – 2nd Grade, Gulf Elementary
While Kylie was at P.E. she found money on the floor.  Without a second thought Kylie immediately ran and gave it to her teacher and turned it in.  She never hesitated, showing wonderful spirit and sincerity.

Brayden Loughren – 6th Grader, Challenger Middle
Brayden is a very responsible and a honest young man.  Brayden was walking with another student and the other student found some money in the hallway.  The other student spoke about keeping the money but Brayden convinced the student that it was best to turn the money in to the teacher, which he did.  Brayden is able to positively influence his peers and is respected by them.

Maria Minto- 5th Grade, Diplomat Elementary
Maria took it upon herself to help several students raise money for their 5th grade field trip to the Museum Of Science and Industry in Tampa.  Maria did so by helping a couple of students sell additional chocolate bars.  Because of Maria’s commitment to her 5th grade Field Trip, she was able to raise $360.00.

Zachary Kashman – 8th Grade, Oasis Middle
Samantha Esposito – 8th Grade, Oasis Middle
Mary Brady –
8th Grade, Oasis Middle School
For their 7th grade assignment, their teacher Mr. Fennell, had his students developed a non-profit organization.  These three students chose to collect donated shoes and funds for local children in need, designating their name as “A Pair2 Share”.  They developed a website and attended school festivals advertising their cause.  What makes Zach, Samantha and Mary stand out is that they continued their organization beyond their 7th grade project.  Now in the 8th grade the trio still runs their non-profit organization.  This school year it appeared that some of the students were in need and Mr. Fennell decided he was going to approach “A Pair 2 Share” to see if they would be interested in supporting a cause.   After the three discussed it among themselves, they told Mr. Fennell that they would like to donate $500.00 towards the cause. This trio’s kindness exemplifies their genuine heart and strength to make the world a better place.  The internal drive, determination and continual kindness that these three student posses will make them very successful with any of their goals in life.

Jarred Pinto – 7th Grade. Gulf Middle
On Thanksgiving Day Jarred volunteered at “Lamb of God church” to feed the needy; Jarred helped by cutting pies and packing them for the families.  He then went to an elderly home to help feed them.  Jarred helped serve about 200 residents in the Lehigh Acres Community.  Jarred enjoys reaching out to the needy and states that he looks forward to doing it every year.

Connor Leith – 9th Grade, North Ft. Myers High School
When Officer Zarrillo responded to the call he stated the following, “I came across a young man during a residential fire call.  The young man was at home babysitting his younger sister, Camryn when the stove was accidentally bumped, turned on, and ignited a glass candle causing it to explode.  The quick thinking Connor got his younger sister and family dog out of the house, called 911 and his parents.  The Cape Coral Police Department and the Cape Coral Fire Department arrived quickly to put out the fire which caused damaged to the kitchen, but no structural damage.”  If it were not for Connor’s quick thinking, the outcome would have been quite different.

MCI Officer Green followed-up on this tip and found the lead valid.  At 6:27 PM, Officer Green and Corporal Satterlee arrived at 2203 NE 15 Terrace and located the suspect vehicle sitting on the East side of the house in a vacant lot.  The vehicle was a 1996 white Dodge Ram truck that had suffered heavy front right and passenger side damage.  Tire marks from striking the bicycle tire were plainly visible in the lower bumper area.  All damage was consistent with the traffic crash.

A white male, now identified as Timothy Wayne Turner, voluntarily exited the house and advised that he was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the traffic crash and wished to turn himself in.

(February 4, 2015)-  Cape Coral Police Detectives have made an arrest in an armed robbery that occurred at a south Cape Coral Publix liquor store Monday night.

On February 2, 2015 at approximately 7:15 PM a white male suspect entered the Publix Liquor Store located at 127 Cape Coral Pkwy W, Cape Coral, Lee County, FL.  The suspect produced a knife from his pocket and pointed it at a store employee while demanding the money from the cash register.  The suspect grabbed the entire cash drawer and fled from the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

Store surveillance video revealed that the male was about 5'8"-5'10", thin build, and dark stubble head and facial hair.   He was wearing a unique gray hooded sweatshirt with multi-colored symbols, black shorts, and gray and reflective maroon color running shoes.  Upon fleeing the store the suspect is seen leaving in a white vehicle.

Cape Coral Police Department Patrol, K9, Aviation, Detectives, and Forensics personnel responded.  A Ping4alert was sent to the surrounding neighborhood to alert people of the police activity and to provide people in the area with a photo of the suspect.

Later that night, at around 2:30 AM the Lee County Sheriff's Department received a robbery report at a 7-11 store in North Ft Myers involving a suspect that matched the description from the Publix robbery.  Deputies spotted the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene and a pursuit ensued.  The vehicle was a white PT Cruiser.  The suspect crashed near the Bell Tower shopping center in South Ft Myers and was taken into custody.  He was identified as Timothy John Holden, W/M, DOB: 06-04-1984, of 1117 SW Santa Barbara Pl. #2, Cape Coral, FL.  Holden was transported by Lee County EMS to a local hospital for injuries from the accident.

Cape Coral Detective Kurtis Grau responded to the crash scene.  There, he noticed the same unique multi-colored, hooded sweatshirt that was worn by the Publix robber, laying on the ground outside the crashed car.  Shoes that appear to be the same in the surveillance video were also on the ground.   Visible on the back seat of the car was a cash drawer that appeared to be the same as was stolen from Publix.  Money was also visible on the ground outside and inside the car.

Detective Grau responded to the hospital where he identified Holden as being the same person in the surveillance video that robbed the Publix.  Forensic Specialist Fordham compared Holden's palm prints on record at CCPD to a palm print recovered by at Publix and confirmed that it matched.

In addition to LCSO's charges, Holden was charged with 1 count of Armed Robbery.  Holden has since been released from the hospital and is currently at Lee County Jail.

ARRESTED:  Timothy John Holden, W/M, DOB: 06-04-1984, of 1117 SW Santa Barbara Pl. #2, Cape Coral, FL.
CHARGES:  Robbery With a Weapon

"This is a great example of cooperation and teamwork, not only within our Department, but between the Cape Coral Police Department and Lee County Sheriff's Office as well.  Thanks to some solid police work and forensics, we have put together a solid case to get a violent offender off the street."- Det. (February 4, 2015)-  Cape Coral Police Chief Bart Connelly will be hosting a series of Town Hall-style community meetings in the coming months, starting on February 12, 2015.

Each Town Hall meeting will be held in a different area of the City, in order to provide the opportunity for people to participate along with others from their own neighborhoods, and to discuss issues which may be of importance to that specific area.

“I’m eager to meet and talk face-to-face with a lot of Cape Coral residents during our Town Hall Meetings.  These gatherings are an important way for residents and police to create partnerships, to learn from one another, and to build trusting, cooperative relationships that are the very foundation of a strong, safe community. We can only do this if we talk to each other, and that’s what these Town Hall meetings are all about.”- Bart Connelly, Chief of Police

"This is similar to a highly successful program we've been doing called Coffee With a Cop.  But, instead of meeting with the street officers, citizens can talk directly with the leaders and decision makers of the Cape Coral Police Department.  We anticipate holding a Town Hall meeting at various locations throughout Cape Coral every other month.  The meetings offer a way for people to meet the Chief and members of his Command Staff, to create connections between the community and the Police Department, exchange information, and engage in small-group discussions around neighborhood issues. From these Town Hall meetings, the Chief and his staff will also gain the community’s perspectives and concerns on law enforcement and related issues for each area."- Det. Sergeant Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer.

Community members are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in the Police Chief’s Town Hall Meeting which will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Tony and Ada's Coffee located at 2110 Chiquita Boulevard S., from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.  Tony and Ada's Coffee will provide fresh brewed coffee for attendees and will have the coffee bar open for attendees to purchase espresso drinks or hot teas.
