Sergeant Alisha Cody has worked for the Cape Coral Police Department for 15 years and is currently assigned to the Special Operation Bureau. During Women’s History Month we are asking our women about their experiences at the Cape Coral Police Department.

What advice would you have for women who want to work for the Cape Coral Police Department?

The desire to become a law enforcement officer is most securely rooted from a place of service to the community.  Part of that service is to be able to connect to all people within that community.  The diversity at the Cape Coral Police Department provides a broad opportunity to make these connections and build trust with our citizens.  I would encourage the constant pursuit of excellence and tenacity in your journey to become a Cape Coral Police Department law enforcement officer.  Your training, education, perseverance, and growth will set the course for you to provide the best level of service to the community and the City of Cape Coral deserves our best.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

During my fifteen years of service I’ve found the most rewarding aspect of this career is to be able to provide help to those in need and protect those unable to protect themselves.  As law enforcement officers we have a unique position; we are called to be there for our community members in their worst moments.  It is an honor to be a part of an agency dedicated to the safety and well-being of our community.

What are you career ambitions as you move forward at the Cape Coral Police Department?

As I continue to serve at the Cape Coral Police Department, one of my goals is to encourage and assist our officers toward growth and excellence.  Through the sustained development of our officers, and our agency, we will make the most impact and ensure the continual partnership with our citizens in keeping Cape Coral a safe city.
